Busy. That’s a word everyone uses way too much. What does it mean to you?
Sometimes I find myself busy with nonsensical tasks that neither have value nor meaning in the grand scope. Running errands, filing paper or household maintenance. Sometimes I wish I could use the time more meaningfully.
Then it occurred to me that if I tried to appreciate the moment, the details of life and my time on this planet, that there is something to be gained even in the mundane. The gain I suppose is that all these silly tasks done well and with intention and effort will result in a life well-lived.
For example, if I take the time to put love into say grocery shopping, I might be more aware of what I’m buying and and learn something new in the process which in turn is helping my family to be healthy. I could give you several examples – and if you have ways in which you try to make the simple tasks in your life special, please share them as I would love to hear. Maybe if we took the time to appreciate the mundane, we would be happier. What do you think? Are we staying busy to fill a void or is life just too darn busy?
