Call for Artists

WovenSmart Gallery is accepting submissions for MAKING ROOM, a group exhibition opening October 15, 2026, in Lakewood, Ohio.

What becomes possible when we make room?

MAKING ROOM explores what happens when space is opened, claimed, shared or reconsidered. The exhibition considers room in both physical and less visible forms: room for change, complexity, rest, expression, belonging and new ways of seeing.

Artists are invited to interpret the theme broadly. Work might examine presence and absence, boundaries and transitions, expansion and restraint, overlooked spaces, shifting relationships, or the act of welcoming something that has not yet fully arrived.

We are interested in thoughtful, visually engaging work that brings a distinct point of view to the exhibition. Artists do not need to address every aspect of the theme, and the work does not need to be created specifically for this call.

Exhibition Details

Opening reception: Thursday, October 15, 2026
Location: WovenSmart Gallery, Lakewood, Ohio
Submission deadline: Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET
Submission fee: $20
Artist commission: Artists receive 70% of the sale price; WovenSmart Gallery retains 30%.

The call is open to original, wall-hung artwork in a range of media. All accepted work must arrive ready to install. Artists from outside Northeast Ohio are welcome to apply, but they are responsible for arranging delivery and pickup of accepted artwork from the gallery.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Selected artists will receive exhibition instructions, delivery details and other necessary information after the review process.

Please submit only work that will be available for the full exhibition period. Artwork should not be delivered to the gallery unless it has been formally accepted.
