Last night was rainy and cold. I didn’t want to leave my house, much less go to a jewelry party with people I didn’t know. I even missed most of The Biggest Loser to attend.

What a wonderful surprise when I met a group of women who were so interesting and pleasant to talk to. I love a nice surprise…I even find a pair of earrings that I’m excited to wear!

In speaking with these lovely ladies, the usual conversation such as what do you do and where do you live crept up. When I answer the “what do you do?” question, I tell people I’m a marketing consultant (see www.rubycommunication.com). Then they might ask what projects I’m working on and I’ll tell them. Then, the blog creeps into the conversation. I told them about Raising Boys World. They asked me some really thought-provoking questions – for one, why do I do this? Nobody has really asked me that. In coming up with a response and then seeing their reaction to my response, it verified that all the effort I put into this – is worthwhile.

If this site can help one person to feel more comfortable being a parent of boys – if it can help you parent better, in any way…then my work is worthwhile.

I love when you provide comments to what I write. It verifies once again that people read this, that there’s a need for the information and that it’s helpful.

Please take a moment to create an account at Raising Boys World…get involved. Post on the forum, post stories, make friends. I really think (and judging by yesterday’s feedback) we are in this together – and our boys will benefit from our interaction.

Thanks ladies for an insightful, intellectually stimulating and inspiring conversation!
