Product Review: Crayola Twistables

By Renee Martinez, Founder of Raising Boys World

Whenever we use crayons, my 2 year-old always likes to peel the paper and break the crayons. The older guys get upset, and rightfully so. I try to explain to my little guy that we shouldn’t destroy the crayons, but it doesn’t seem to sink in. It’s very frustrating.

Then we found Crayola Twistables. They have helped keep the peace in our home. The colors are vibrant as all Crayola products, but they are so much neater. No more yucky crayon residue or paper to contend with. They’re non-toxic and come with a plastic protective carrying case. You will never have to sharpen a crayon or pencil again. Using them gives you the ability to create concise lines and shapes like a pencil with the depth of color like a crayon. They don’t break either so you won’t end up with some whittled down mess that you can’t even color with. The stay the same size forever!

Is there a downside? They are a bit more expensive than crayons and since they last longer, you also need to buy more paper. It’s hard to tell which color is which. They aren’t labeled and some of the colors look very similar. Also, while I liked the color selection, my older son thinks that crayons have brighter colors and that twistables are a little dull. He also feels that it’s harder to create a sharp edge for detailed drawings.

We give Crayola Twistables: 2 Thumbs Up!

If you have a product that you would like a my boys and I to review, let me know. We’d love to test your products!
