So I was cleaning my office – which might be thought of as a monumental task, when I found something I bought like a year ago. A label maker. It was tucked far away at the back of my desk. A lot of good it did back there.

Generally, my house is fairly organized. I try to make sure everything has a place so things will be easy to find – and put away. I use a lot of bins and try to label them when I can so the boys can learn everything goes too. For the little guys, it’s a nice way to teach them association with words as well.

With every well-thought out plan lies a few flaws. Mine is the office. For some reason it has become like a black hole of paper, books and files. I know where everything is and can find things pretty quickly when necessary. But honestly, the feng shui went out he window and the peace and zen left with the dust and clutter moved in. What makes it even worse is that my intentions were so good. I have implemented everything all the experts suggest to make this space work. But I can’t seem to follow my own rules to put things away…so it’s time I take a stand.

By the way, if HGTV, TLC, Oprah, ANYONE!!!…wants to do an organizational makeover on my office…COUNT ME IN! I would also accept design help on the playroom and the basement and my bedroom.

Anyway, with the holidays at our doorstep, I think it’s time I kick into full gear to fix this problem and think those of you who suffer from the same issue you should join me in a quest for organization. Since other areas of my house are organized, I can tell you that it does make a difference, so it’s worth the time and investment to get organized.

It’s good for the mind too and think of the benefit for your sons to live in an organized home. Especially children with ADHD, it’s said to help them focus better. Being organized teaches kids structure, home management, cleanliness and promtes a sense of well-being from a reduction in clutter filling their surroundings.
