Last week I wrote a post for 2 Sleeping Babies on Raising My Husband’s Son. In a nutshell I was just musing over choosing a man to marry and asking myself if I would be happy if my son turned out just like him.
Since the events that birthed that post I am continually struck by how much Aedyn and Jaron want to be like their Papa. They are definitely my boys, as evidenced by who they sleep on top of when they climb in our bed; but I can never compare with their father.
On Sunday they insisted on dressing just like him for church. Aedyn tells us that he has a job and it’s working the same place as Papa; although Aedyn wants to make the food there instead of boss everyone around. Jaron follows Papa around and repeats everything he says.
Watching all of this and knowing that it will continue for many years to come I am so happy that they have such a great role model.
Little guys need their big guys. Whether it’s their father, like my little guys have, or an uncle, cousin, brother, or family friend…they all have someone they want to be “just like.” It’s as much a part of boyhood as getting dirty and making noise.
