Again…

Another year, another lease, another building to call home.

And to be honest, it’s getting old.

This year has been near torture, living in second floor apartment above people who have made it clear that 3 and 2 year old boys have no excuse for not knowing that they are supposed to float above the floor and make nary a sound. Heaven forbid they fall out of bed…

Anyway. We decided that we’re done with apartments. We’re still not ready to buy, but the boys need space and they need a yard. They need a place to be boys. And we all need a place that we can settle down in for more than just a year.

Finding that place has been harder than I initially thought; if it has enough inside room then there’s not really a yard, if there’s a big yard then there aren’t enough bedrooms. If the yard is nice and the house the right size then the yard isn’t fenced…and on and on. Oh, and if we find one we like, then it already has a contract started on it.

So we’ve seen house after house after house with little boys in tow. Jaron (23m) doesn’t really understand what’s going on, other than he gets to explore empty rooms and closets over and over again. Aedyn has a better idea and is thrilled with the idea, but has begun getting frustrated that we haven’t picked one and moved all of our stuff already. If only it was that simple!

I wonder if all the hassle’s worth it, if we’ll really use the yard or the space enough to justify yet another move. But then I watch my two crazy mini-men and know that it has to be worth it; they need a place where they can run and wrestle and be loud, where they can camp, and explore, and discover and still be able to find a drink or the potty at a second’s notice.

It’s time for a house to move our home into. And time for my boys to be boys to the fullest.

She loves chasing them all over the place and walking the line between letting them be boys and  keeping them from killing themselves. In between their adventures (read: when they’re asleep) you can find her blogging and maybe reacquainting herself with a too long neglected sewing machine or crochet hooks.  Check out her blog 2SleepingBabies.

Thankful for Happiness

These four boys have no idea how they’ve changed my life for the better. They may be a few years older now (hopefully I’m a little wiser) but I’m thankful everyday to be their mom. Thankful too for the man who has been my partner on this journey. Family is everything...
