I’ve been away from blogging for a variety of reasons and I really miss connecting with my readers! How are you?!

Today, my oldest son (age 10) and I decided to go rollerblading. His friend joined us and with the clear blue skies, warm weather, and gentle breeze, it was the perfect day for a little rollerblading adventure. So we just kept blading mile after mile…and returned home 9.5 miles and nearly 2 hours later. It was so much fun! I think what made this time really special was that I realized he’s getting older, but yet still my little guy. He still wants to hang out with me. I know it won’t be like this for long as his friends will soon begin to take priority.

After our adventure, we came in the house and started to prepare dinner. To my surprise, I nearly gagged when he removed his shoes…the odor was, well, stinky! At nearly 11, puberty isn’t too far away. Since I held him back (he has a late birthday) he’s finishing up 4th grade…but soon we need to have the big talk with him. I’ve started talking more about hygiene with him – clearly with those stinky feet, I’m doing a good thing!

What have you done to communicate with your son about his changing body? How old was he?
