I am embarrassed that it was September 6th when I last posted. What a complete slacker I am!
It’s almost October already and we’ve been on the go non-stop. I’m loving getting back on schedule, what about you? My boys were really crazy at the beginning of school – one is a big 4th grader and the other a 2nd grader and then 2 in pre-school. Did you feel that your kids had a rough time adjusting to going to back to school? There was a ton of drama at my house those first few days. The weather was nice and getting the boys to settle down and do homework wasn’t an easy task. I made a lot of crazy threats and yelled a lot. It was a blast.
Then I realized I had let go not only of our schedule throughout the summer, but of any effort I made to get the kids to do chores. It was truly a hassle-free summer for the boys – I think a big too much (watch out next year!). When I pulled out my Mommy Bucks and old charts, I realized that my oldest in particular had outgrown my system. The rewards were not really motivating. So I developed a new program that combines Mommy Bucks and real money. For example, my 10 year old can earn $5 in real cash and $5 in Mommy Bucks. The cash, he can (and is encouraged to) save, while the Mommy Bucks he can turn in toward doing special activities with mom and dad. In the process of coming up with what I might do, I came across several great websites that I thought you might find very useful. Check them out:

By the way, I’ve received a few emails that let me know of some trouble people were having viewing the new site. If you’re having trouble, please let me know so I can try to fix things.
