I was just forwarded, this article in Science Daily and if it’s a must read, especially if you struggle with weight issues and/or are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant. It’s really interesting. The new study tracked women from pregnancy through their children’s first five years of life and found “factors that place children at higher risk for obesity begin at infancy, and in some cases, during pregnancy. Their research also suggests that risk factors such as poor feeding practices, insufficient sleep and televisions in bedrooms are more prevalent among minority children than white children.”
With all the hoopla about childhood obesity – some people favor taxing soda to help reduce obesity, while others want to renovate school lunches. Perhaps some of the above works, and certainly children are getting bigger and need to slim down for their future, but it’s their parents who we should be working with or the companies making the garbage food should be more accountable. But mostly- it’s the parents responsibility to teach their children healthy eating and living habits.
What do you do to live a healthy lifestyle in your home?
