It’s a rainy, gloomy, chilly day. Not ideal weather for a 3rd grade class trip to the zoo.

This may sound awful, but I must admit… I’m so done with the zoo. I know how much my guys love it and we try and visit often, but I’m over the excitement of the zoo. We used to live walking distance from the zoo and what I think happened is that I just burned out from visiting too often. the crowds and the smells are enough to make me scream!

So why am I here today? For my boys of course. The zoo may not be for me, but then again, not much is anymore. Much of what I do is for my boys. Soon enough they’ll be older and won’t want to do any if this, especially with me. Now the fact that I’m here is important to my son, he’s so excited to show off his brothers to his friends.

He’s almost 10 and he’s growing up fast. I’m happy to put myself aside. It’s a choice I will easily make for my boys. It teaches them balance, the importance of family, maybe sacrifice, dedication, and comradery.

I have 3 more boys to do this with. I will really be tired of the zoo when my last one takes his class trip here… plus we go on our own too! Yikes.

Life is short. Make choices today that you’ll be proud of tomorrow.

These four boys have no idea how they’ve changed my life for the better. They may be a few years older now (hopefully I’m a little wiser) but I’m thankful everyday to be their mom. Thankful too for the man who has been my partner on this journey. Family is everything...
