Some days it feels like it might have been better to just stay in bed. Today was one of those days… everything in one way or another seemed to either go wrong or present an issue. I won’t bore you with all the details but suffice it to say that I’ve essentially spent the entire day dealing with administrative stuff at either a bank, the insurance company or the doctors office. Not the way I’d (or imagine anyone frankly) would want to spend this beautiful but cold sunny Wednesday.

So here’s the deal… I could choose to let this affect me and then become crabby and whiny. But I’m not going to do that (beyond my complaining in the above paragraph). No… I’m going to stop right here and recognize the good in this.

What I realized was that this shitty day is temporary. This shitty day was a reminder that most of my days are amazing and that I’m so incredibly fortunate in so many different ways (I won’t get into boring details here either). It’s when you have a shitty day that sometimes you’re brought back to the reality of appreciation and gratitude. So here I am friends. Thankful and grateful. Hopefully no more shittiness in the near future though.

So I decided that it would be more productive to take all my frustration and redirect it into creating something. So I started a new painting. Truthfully, I wasn’t super motivated to paint but kind of pushed myself. Kind of how I feel sometimes about exercising. Anyway, I’m glad that I made myself paint.

Painting is mediative and peaceful, which is just what I needed to take a few moments to breathe and relax. After my painting session, I felt so much better.

Find your zen, your happy place and decompress. It’s well worth the effort to push yourself to start.

Thank you for listening to me complain by the way.
