It’s hard to believe that Halloween is tomorrow. What happened to the time? It’s crazy!

I didn’t want to do an entry on the Swine Flu – too much discussion on the subject – but alas…here I am writing about none other than swine-age. I give in.

Even my boys are talking about the swine flu.

I’m not going to scare you into rushing out to get vaccinated or tell you about how crabby my kids were this week (and me too) when they were home sick. Nope. None of that.

I just want to say this. It’s annoying this swine flu.

First, there was all the hype last spring – the doom and gloom how this swine flu will sweep across the nation – the world – a pandemic…BEWARE…death and illness – the sky will turn grey and our air will slowly lose oxygen – we all will die from the piggy flu.

That may be an over-exaggeration.

So, basically, we were strongly warned to take the necessary precautions to prevent the flu. Which we tried to do.

Then summer came and the talk of swine subsided.

The fall arrived and like a vengeance – the swine flu had returned along with the media attention. It truly has taken it’s toll on at least my community. Increased absenteeism has plagued the schools. Concerns over whether or not to participate in festivities this Halloween weekend are discussed at the water cooler. I have friends who are freaking out over this! Parents are home with sick crabby kids wondering, what about that vaccine they were talking about that was expected on October 13th?

Vaccine? Remember that? I wasn’t truthfully sure I wanted one after all the safety hype that surrounded the H1N1 vaccine controversy – but I’d at least like the option to choose.

Now I hear that they’re out of the regular flu vaccines.

What is going on? Is this inefficiency, hype or bullshit?

So, my kids were sick earlier this week. I don’t really know what  they had – officially – but a high fever – a little puking – a weird rash – and snots running all over their faces. You decide. Whatever it was, I’m just glad it’s gone.

Thankful for Happiness

These four boys have no idea how they’ve changed my life for the better. They may be a few years older now (hopefully I’m a little wiser) but I’m thankful everyday to be their mom. Thankful too for the man who has been my partner on this journey. Family is everything...
