When it comes to art, I’ve been pretty traditional. Generally I’m satisfied working with either acrylic or oil. I love the buttery, soft malleable flow that oil paints allow, while the easy-set-up quick-dry acrylics have their place in my life as well. Different paints for different times.

But that if your creation is calling for something else?
Sure, I’ve dabbled in ink, pencil, charcoal and gauche, but sometimes my vision needs more.
Enter mixed media. I’d never really explored the possibilities that bringing my materials together could do. I have to say, it’s quite liberating. Who knew?!
So I’ve started playing. I mean just playing with whatever inspires me. It’s not often that we allow ourselves time to just play, like when we were kids. Time without structure or expectations. Just real play.
In the process of this play, I’ve woven several mediums together to create works of art that I’m quite excited about. They incorporate wood burning, fabric, acrylic, all sorts of markers and sometimes a photo for a collage effect. I’m just in the infancy stage on these but I’m excited to share them. What do you think?
