I can’t remember the last time hubby and I went away without the kids. Maybe 5 years ago? It’s something I guess that hasn’t been a priority, it just didn’t work out…until now 🙂
I write this as I’m sitting in the Chicago O’Hare airport, waiting for my next flight (heading to California) to meet hubby.

Coffee in hand, I’m finally able to start to relax after all the preparation to make this a smooth trip is complete.
My parents are watching the boys and I did everything I could to make it as easy as possible for them. I created a spreadsheet that detailed all the commitments the boys have over the weekend. I printed directions to places they needed to go. I made sure to leave a letter that gives my parents the legal responsibility to make medical decisions, should a problem arise that they need to reach the doctor. I bought, wrapped, and labeled birthday gifts for parties they will attend. I made sure to coordinate passport and letter of consent that my son can go to hockey practice in Canada with his friend and his friend’s father. I cleaned the house. Bought all the extra food to make the meals easy. Did all the laundry. Made lunches for the next 2 days. Packed my bags. Finished some work… And now here I am… Flying to meet hubby.
Is it me or is going away without kids a ton of work?!
