This shouldn’t come to you as a surprise, but losing weight is so frustrating. Once you decide to bite the bullet and make dietary and health changes, you want to see results, but of course they don’t occur immediately and that’s the frustrating part.
In our society when everything you want or need can happen in an instant, the patience and dedication required for successful weight loss is truly a challenge. That’s probably one of the reasons why people have a hard time sticking to a healthy plan to lose weight. Naturally they want to see results, but don’t have the necessary patience to wait and keep trucking along.
I have mentality too. It’s not a conscious decision…oh – nothing’s changing I give up – taking too long…it’s more along the lines of….been working hard – I’ll have a snack – why I am not seeing results – now I’m depressed about still feeling fat – I’ll have a snack…before you know it you’re fall back on your old habits that you were trying to get out of.
So now I’m on a mission from God to shed the 40 pounds that have taken up residence on my hips (10 pounds for each child). I’ve tried lots of things – like most people – and failed that’s what brought me here. I’ve decided I don’t want to be a fat unhealthy mom – I want to be fit, trim and an example to my boys.
Here’s my schedule (which is the same as it’s always been – except I’ve added weights with the trainer- previously I did only cardio):
- Monday – 30 minute elliptical machine (at home) – do 10 one-minute intervals
- Tuesday – work with a trainer – weights then cardio – total time 50 min (the amazing Mike Gill)
- Wednesday – figure skate then play tennis
- Thursday – work with a trainer – weights then cardio – total time 50 min
- Friday – usually take day off
- Saturday – run 3-5 miles
- Sunday – run 3-5 miles
I’ve been eating better too. I now eat breakfast. Trying to have egg white omlet or oatmeal or yogurt.I eat in between meals and after a workout. I’m also consuming more healthy proteins than I had been and reducing the amount of dairy and carbs. I’ve switched my lattes for tea. That’s been the hardest change. I love milk and dairy products – so reducing them has been a challenge.
I’ve been doing this for 3 weeks. I don’t think I’ve lost much if anything, but I feel good and some of my clothes fit better. I’ll keep you posted.
Have you battled with this issue? What have you done? What was succesful? What was a waste of time?
